Transportation at New Cadelonia

Transportation at New Cadelonia
Transportation
Land
1. Bus routes (Nounea)

Since the beginning of 2001, a new bus system has been operating (based on the principle used in large French cities). New buses, a better service around Noumea, precise timetable and new fares with bus passes, Noumea's buses are definitely a practical and cheap way of visiting the Capital.

The first buses start in the morning from 5.30am / 5.45am and the last departures are at about 6.30pm. Departures take place every 15 to 30 min approximately.
The bus station is located in Montravel

All bus departures are from the Noumea bus station

2. Bus routs (Main land)

These lines serve the main communities on the mainland.
Be careful, these buses are quite old and often not very comfortable. These lines are mainly used by inhabitants of the interior

3. Renting Cars and Limusines
Car or limousine services with a chauffeur are available only in Noumea.
It is possible to rent limousines or vintage cars from the 20s

4. Airport Tontoula/Noumea Transfers
Tontouta airport is situated 45 km from Noumea, the cheapest way to get to the capital is of course by shuttle.
Many companies in Noumea offer a door to door service (airport / hotel).

The same goes for the interior and islands. Enquire at your hotel when you reserve you room

5. The little train
The little tourist train of Noumea offers the chance to visit the capital and its main tourist attractions at a leisurely holiday rhythm. Tours are narrated in three languages: French, English and Japanese. Three little trains operate circuits with different themes: "Fauna and flora" with the Ouen Toro, the Aquarium and the Botanical Gardens, "Cultural" via the town museum, the beautiful colonial houses of Noumea and the Tjibaou Cultural Centre and convivial with a tour of the town and a glass of champagne at the top of the Ouen Toro

.
Noumea - Kuto ( Isle of Pines ) : Wenesday, Saturday and Sunday

2. Charters
À la carte destinations on the biggest lagoon in the world. In summer and winter, a cruise aboard a sailboat, catamaran or a motorboat is the perfect way to discover the marvels of the sea and land. From the golden beaches of the islands in the south to the sheer coastline of the far north of New Caledonia
Be careful, the cyclone season is between December and March.

The Southern Province is the region with the largest number of islets. You can approach most of them and land, but be careful in marine reserves (see the heading on the Caledonian lagoon, marine reserves). Several sail and motor boat rental companies offer à la carte cruises with or without a skipper
Wilder and more isolated than the south, the north of New Caledonia is great for sailing. A multitude of islands can be visited in a unique setting. Unfortunately there are few charter companies on site. You will therefore need to set off from Noumea for a somewhat longer cruise
A sailboat is the perfect way to access the marvellous sites of the Loyalty Islands. Several companies offer six to fifteen day cruises to discover each island. Departure and return by plane, to the island of your choice, to make the most of the cruise there. A trip to the Loyalties is above all a journey into true authenticity...

3. Texi Boat
If you wish to go to the islands around Noumea, without having to rent a boat, you can use taxi boats.
You will find them at the hut on Anse Vata bay (Tourist Office)
