Lebanon Shopping
Beirut was once famous for its quality shopping: mosaic-inlay trays, cutlery, leather goods, rugs, copper ware and brass ware, gold jewelry, pottery, antiques, embroidered linens, lace and a wide variety of items from the region. These days, you won't see many Lebanese crafts for sale. Most of the goods seem to be imports or knock-offs. It's a good place to shop, just not for typical souvenirs. Music cassettes and CDs are very cheap, and Arab music makes for a good souvenir. Bargaining has never been the accepted practice in large stores, but it's expected in markets, bazaars and smaller shops.
Shopping Hours: Monday-Saturday 10 am-1 pm and 3-9 pm; Sunday 10 am-1 pm and 3-6 pm.
Banking Hours: Monday-Saturday 8:30 am-12:30 pm. |
