Beiteddine Festival
The Grand opening on July 3 will feature Andrew Lloyd Webber's masterpiece CATS, the most successful show ever. Winner of 7 Tony Awards, CATS holds the unique position of being the longest running musical. CATS has been seen by 50 million people in 150 cities and was performed in 14 different languages. The show will be performed during six consecutive nights from July 3 to July 8.
In the magical atmosphere of the inner courtyard, Zad Moultaka will present on July 12 an 13 a concert specially created for Beiteddine "Mouwashah al Haramlek". A tribute to traditional poems and old songs interpreted by the wonderful Fadia Tomb El-Hage.
"Sahara and Arabian Rhythms" with Khaled, the King of Rai, Hakim, the Lion of Egypt and the Sheikh of Sha'abi music accompanied by the internationally acclaimed Master of oud and violin Simon Shaheen & Qantara, Award winning Jazz & World Fusion project featured on their latest album "Blue Flame". A blend of the Algerian blues known as Rai, with Egyptian sha'abi music and oriental rhythms. The show has toured in the United States and Canada with great success. One night only, July 15.
The internationally acclaimed Master of oud and violon Simon Shaheen & Qantara, Award wining Jazz & World Fusion project featured on their latest album "Blue Flame", will present on July 16 a new Arabic sound with jazz and blues. their latest album which has received 11 Grammy nominations.
A Karma evening is our contribution to World Music: Tabla Beat Science will unite for the first time ever six artists, each a legend in his field: Zakir Hussein, Bill Laswell, Ustad Sultan Khan, Karsh Kale, DJ Disk, Hariprasad Chaurasia and Gigi. Fusion at its best on July 19.
The festival's pride this year is a night at the opera on July 24 with the world acclaimed tenor José Carreras with the Lebanese soprano Rima Tawil. This encounter is a premiere as it joins Maestro Carreras with thte Lebanese soprano, winner of the scala de Milan award. They will be accompanied by the Budapest Concert Orchestra directed by David Gimenez. A milestone i Lebanon's Lyrical history.
