Transportaion To the Island

Transportaion To the Island
Getting Around the Islands
Many resorts arrange airport transfers if it is not included in your vacation package.
The larger islands offer taxi service (fare is about $18.00 from airport to Papeete ), and on the islands of Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora there is "le truck", a public safari-style bus that is the prevalent - and funky - form of transportation.

Inter Island Travel
Traveling to and within the islands of French Polynesia is not a problem. Thanks to French largess, the transport infrastructure is quite sophisticated. There are modern airstrips, well-paved highways, boats and ferries, and a bus system that works. Visitors will find that most transport is reasonably priced and, despite the general laid back attitude, things generally run on time.

Air Tahiti has flights several times daily between Papeete and Bora Bora, Moorea (also serviced by Air Moorea), Huahine, Raiatea, Rangiroa and many of the Tuamotu Islands with several flights a week. They feature a fleet of comfortable and well maintained ATR 45/75 passengers planes which are reliable and always on time.
The baggage weight limit on inter-island flights is 20Kg or 42 lb per passengers (not including hand luggage). But this is not strictly enforced.
